A brief epitome of the history of institution:

The California University of Pennsylvania was established in 1852 with assistance provided by California community in terms of taxes and donations.

In 1862, the institution became able to purchase a land of 10 acres which is the center of its current location.  In 1874 the name of the institution was changed to South-western Normal School and in 1914 Pennsylvania bought the school and it was again renamed to California State Normal School.

In 1928 the school made a transition to 4-year curriculum and its name was also changed to California State Teachers College in the same year. The institution gradually expanded the range of educational programs it conferred and in 1959 the name of institution was changed to California State College.

In 1962, the institution savored the addition of graduate programs to the range of courses it offered. On 1st July 1983, the institution became a part of state system of higher education and its name was finally changed to California university of Pennsylvania.

The California University of Pennsylvania also holds affiliations and accreditations for the different educational programs that it confers.

Facilities:

The university received state and private grants in order to rebuild the campus. The university has many residence halls each with private bathrooms.

At the Jefferson @ California complex, the University has apartment like housing which came into being due to the dedication and generosity of Student Association, Inc.

In 1999, the University also opened Eberly Science and Technology Center. The university became a member of Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) program with the efforts of the executive director of initiatives.

In the Pennsylvania State System for Higher Education, the California University of Pennsylvania is the only institution to welcome a SITE exhibit to the campus.

Valedictorians

A student must complete the college career with a 4.0 GPA and QPA in order to be regarded as a valedictorian.

The California University of Pennsylvania savors the honor that its following students earned the title of Valedictorian.

Athletics:

The nickname of California university of Pennsylvania is ‘Vulcans’. In PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference), the university’s athletes compete at NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and Division II (it is an intermediate level division of competition in National Collegiate Athletic Association).

Out of total, the university has won 3 national championships. The Vulcans have also savored success in basket-ball, baseball and soccer. The University’s teams bear the honor of winning PSAC titles along with dozens of national and regional athletic awards. The athletes of the California University of Pennsylvania also show good performances in their respective academic fields.
