Calendar Type
East Kentucky University has a bi-annual calendar with first phase starting from August 1 and second starting on December 1. Financial aid priority deadline is February 15th.
Credit Transfer
Credited can be transferred from accredited institutes with no limit on number of credits allowed to be transferred. The students are required to earn 32 credit hours through EKU to earn bachelors degree and the CGPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 maximum to earn a graduate degree.

East Kentucky University was established after various enhancements and improvements. Kentucky assembly established Kentucky State Normal School by passing legislation which was later made a law by the governor J C Becham on March 21, 1906. The school was upgraded to Eastern Kentucky State Normal School and Teachers College in 1922. South Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools accredited the college in 1928. In 1935, a graduate degree program leading to Masters of Arts in English was approved at Eastern. College Got the permission to offer non professional degrees else to education in 1948. The status to grant degrees in multiple fields else to Education was granted to Eastern on 26th February 1966 and also named as Eastern Kentucky University.

Mission of East Kentucky University is to provide Intellectual and cultural opportunities to help in developing the habits of scholarship and intellectual curiosity. University plays its vital role by providing complete understanding about American democracy, Citizen’s role in the maintenance of its vitality, developing understanding of humans and their aims, making sure effective and efficient communication, and preparing productive and responsible citizens.
CMU has its focus on three prime functions including high quality instruction, scholarship, and service, with special emphasis on them in same order. Top quality instructions are offered at various degree levels by the university, through its schools and colleges in subjects of general education, arts, sciences, business, education, pre-professional and professional areas, and applied and technical disciplines. Community and regional services are also provides by the University through its consultative services, continuing education and extended campus. University supports advancement of knowledge in the concerned subject matter areas through its research programs and supports the primary teaching function.
