The academic curriculum is structured to encourage life-long learning and educational excellence by strengthening teamwork, critical thinking, communication and problem solving skills. In order to maintain the standard of education, industry-relevant programs are offered by ECPI. The faculty members also possess reasonable academic credentials.

History of ECPI: 

ECPI was established in 1966 in Norfolk, Virginia. In its early days of foundation, the University showed commitment to market-based curriculum and forward thinking. Within a short period of time, the university developed a reputation of offering high quality education in diploma and certificate programs.

In 1984, ECPI opened its second campus in Richmond, Virginia. In 1987, ECPI relocated its main campus to Virginia Beach.

In 1998, the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredited ECPI to award associate degrees. However, in 2004 and 2005, the same commission accredited and approved ECPI to confer baccalaureate degree programs.

In 2006, ECPI expanded its range of programs offered to include dental assisting, culinary science, registered nursing programs and medical radiography.

In 2011, ECPI attained University status and it savored the honor of being approved to confer Mater of Science Degree in ‘information system’ in the same year.

ECPI maintains the relationships with multiple employers in order to figure out the hiring needs and facilitate externship placements and employments of its students and graduates.

Retention and Graduation Rates:

Retention rate measures the percentage of students who return to the institution in the following fall to continue their studies.

Graduation rates track the percentage of students who incepted their studies as first-time degree- or certificate-seeking, full time students and completed the program within 150% of the normal time for completing the program.

Transfer Rates track the percentage of first time, full time students who transferred to other institutions.
