Educational Philosophy

The MT Sierra College offers an education that nurtures the students for wide variety of careers in business, technology, media arts and design. In order to meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s world following principles become a source of assisting the college and its students.

A brief epitome of the history of college:

The MT Sierra College was established in 1990. The effective use technology has always been an important part of its mission. In its earlier days the college was known as Computer Technology Institute.

In 1992, the college partnered with Novell Education Academic and it was authorized to offer Novell Courses.

In 1993, the college developed a partnership with Microsoft and gained authorization to confer Microsoft certification preparation courses. In 1994, the college laid the foundation of its bachelor of Science Degree programs. In 2002, MT Sierra College savored the honor of launching its first Business Degree Program.


Accreditations:

Accreditation is likely to be a process by which the schools, colleges and universities are evaluated. An accredited institution undergoes regular scrutiny and evaluation in order to confirm the academic standards of excellence of the institution.

Accreditations provide the confidence that the academic programs are sound, faculty members are qualified and appropriate facilities are made available by the institution.

Student Services

MT Sierra College is dedicated to the professional and academic success of its students.

Orientation:
Orientation function is managed by the college in order to get students acquainted to the college. Students pursuing the online courses go through the online orientation.

Academic Advisement:
MT Sierra College manages professional staff to meet the needs of students. The academic advisors of the college are ready to address the concerns of students. The areas which are catered by the Academics Department include: schedules and registration, attendance, tutoring, academic progress and classrooms.

The academic advisors are dedicated to the success of all students. Students are encouraged to report complaints and concerns about academic issues and general college issues to the Academic Advisors.

Student Success
Free of cost tutoring services are provided to the students. The students seeking tutoring services are supposed to see the Student Success Coordinator. The chairpersons of departments and college professors also become a source of
student support.

For more challenging courses, free workshops are also scheduled by the faculty. The enhancement of college experience is also managed by the Student Success Staff through special events, student-led clubs and leadership development opportunities.

Career Development:

The MT Sierra College provides academic assistance to all the students and graduates who seek to have employments related to their programs of study. However, information regarding non-program related employments is also provided by MT Sierra College.

The college does not guarantee employment to the students; however, the Career Development Department may assist the students in job search by providing guidance on full-time and part-time job opportunities. For individualized support, the students may seek to schedule an appointment with Director of Career Development.
