An epitome of history of New England College

New England College commenced its first class of 67 men and 1 woman in 1946. Entrepreneurship was a source of origin of New England College.  Boone Tillet, who was an academic visionary, identified an important opportunity to accomplish the academic needs of the service men returning home from the World War II.

With a growing demand of higher education, people eagerly sought the degree offerings of various colleges and universities.

Henniker, New Hampshire was chosen by Tillet for building a college dedicated to the education of returning veterans. Only after three years of the commencement of college, the enrollment was quadrupled. Through 1950s the college expanded itself by adding new programs, faculty and acquiring new buildings in Henniker.

In 1960s various on-campus new buildings were constructed by New England College that included: dining hall, residence hall, gymnasium, science building
and library.

By 1980s the enrollment of the college was increased to more than 1000 students. The recent addition to the college is the renovation of former Henniker railroad station which is now dedicated as Currier Alumni Center.
