In 1907, a group of people in Georgetown started an elementary school. A year later, several acres of land was purchased and the institution was expanded to include secondary level of education.
In 1909, the school added a college of Liberal Arts. By 1939, the enrollment of the institution was 300 students and the campus consisted of several frame buildings on 40 acres.
In 1939, the administration building was destroyed by fire. After considering the expansion program, the trustees of the institution purchased the present campus in Bourbonnais and adopted the name ‘Olivet Nazarene College’.
However, in order to reflect the diversity of academic programs and graduate studies the name was changed to ‘Olivet Nazarene University’.
The mission of the student success center is to develop a culture of success through collaborative programming across the campus. It pays regard to the encouragement of student’s scholarships, healthy relationships, career readiness and community services.
The success center is committed to assist the students to successfully pass through the major stages of university life.

Learning Development Center
The Learning Development Center provides various academic services to the students which may include tutoring, learning labs, and support for students with disabilities. In order to prepare the students for general educational courses, supplemental writing, math, and learning skill programs are provided to the students.
Connections
Freshmen candidates are encouraged to complete the freshmen seminar, Connections. Through Connections, the students can meet weekly with instructors, mentors and other students.
Benner Library
The ‘Benner Library’ of Olivet Nazarene University invests in scholarly resources and current technology in order to promote student success, life-long learning and academic excellence.
In addition to four floors of books, the Benner Library also provides periodicals, reference materials, and places to study alone or work on projects with others. With latest computer labs and printing facilities, the Benner library & Resource Center serves the academic needs of the students.
