Credit Transfer

Flexible credit transfer policy
  • Transfer up to 90 credits (earned at Post University) towards bachelor's degree program
  • Transfer up to 60 credits (earned outside Post University) towards bachelor's degree program
  • Transfer up to 9  credits towards master's degree program
  • Students can earn undergraduate credits for DANTES, CLEP and ACE courses.

University Overview

Post University is a group of online and on-campus students of different ages. In addition to the provision of four-year learning programs, the university also savors the honor of being largest online education provider in the state.

Post University bears the reputation of providing highly-interactive online programs that are likely to impact the lives of adult learners. Same high-quality and student-oriented education is provided to the distant learners as to the campus-based students.

History of Post University

The Post University was founded in 1890 as Matoon Shorthand School that offered commercial education trainings such as book-keeping, typing, business writing and shorthand courses.

In 1893, the name of the school was changed to Bliss & Harrington's Business College & School of Shorthand. In 1897, the institution was acquired by Harry C. Post and the name was changed to Waterbury Business College.

In 1939, the school broadened its mission and became Post Junior College of Commerce. In 1965, the university savored the honor of acquiring its current day-campus property in Country Club Road in Waterbury, Conn. In 1970, Leever Student Center was opened by Post University.

In 1980, the university accomplished the honor of awarding its first baccalaureate degree. In 1996, the institution commenced its online degree programs. In 2004, the name of the institution was changed to Post University and new courses were added to its curriculum. In 2006, the institution started to offer its first Master’s Degree Program online.


Accreditation

Accreditation is reckoned as a standard against which the schools, colleges and universities are evaluated in context of the quality of education, and the operating practices.

In order to confirm the high standards of educational excellence, the accreditation agencies continuously evaluate the integrity, continuous improvement, accountability and open communication of the institutions which reside on their rosters.

The accreditation instills confidence in the educational community and institutions' constituencies. In order to evaluate the transfers of credit and applications for postgraduate study, the colleges and universities also rely on the accreditation status.

Post University is also granted by State of Connecticut to award associate, baccalaureate and master's degrees in legal studies, criminal justice, information technology, business, sport management and social services.


Academic Services

The online students at Post University have access to the same academic support services as campus-based students. Following are the academic services which are provided by Post University to its students.

Virtual Library
The Post University provides access to various information resources and databases through its virtual library. The students can find national/international newspapers, business journal and various other resources of history, business, legal studies, industry market-research reports, dictionaries and thesauri etc.

Writing center
The writing center at Post University helps students to brainstorm and develop the ideas of writing to understand the writing process, figure out ways to improve writing, correct the use of grammar, avoid plagiarism and properly cite sources, use appropriate styles and tones of writing etc.

Tutoring
Post University provides tutoring services to the students through its Learning Center. Tutoring services are provided in a wide range of subjects and to all full and part-time students of the university. Tutoring is provided by selected peers and professionals in subjects such as accounting, economics, algebra, statistics, finance, English and research writing.

Academic Advising
The goal of Academic Advising is to provide assistance to the students in realizing their academic potentials. Proactive and friendly coaching is provided to the students by Academic Advising staff. This enables the students to stay on track, accomplish their academic goals and graduate.


Scholarships

Following are the scholarships and their respective values which are provided to the students who maintain specific academic standards.

High honors scholarship $14,000 GPA of 3.5 and 1800 SAT or 28 ACT score.
Honors scholarship $12,000 GPA of 3.25 and 1500 SAT or 24 ACT score
Trustee scholarship $11,000 3.0 GPA and 1400 SAT or 22 ACT
Presidential scholarship $8,000 2.5 GPA and 1300 SAT or 21 ACT
Post scholarship $6,000 2.0 GPA and 1200 SAT or 20 ACT
Returning student scholarships $100–$500 Awarded to students who demonstrate high scholastic achievement throughout their University careers
