Sterling College makes endeavors for the excellence in learning by adopting various learning approaches. The curriculum of Sterling College is structured in a way that provides broad educational experience to the students. This educational experience is likely to assist the students to contribute to the fast changing world.

HISTORY OF STERLING COLLEGE

The institution commenced its educational services as Cooper Memorial College in 1887. The curriculum at that time consisted of four majors. It also had a preparatory department that was meant for providing high school courses to the students in their homes.

The Sterling College foresees the future with confidence and the community, friends and thousands of alumni become a source of support for the college for continuing its tradition.

ACCREDITATION

Accreditation is reckoned as a standard against which the schools, colleges and universities are evaluated in context of the quality of education, and the operating practices.

In order to confirm the high standards of educational excellence, the accreditation agencies continuously evaluate the integrity, continuous improvement, accountability and open communication of the institutions which reside on their rosters.

The accreditation instills confidence in the educational community and institutions' constituencies. In order to evaluate the transfers of credit and applications for postgraduate study, the colleges and universities also rely on the accreditation status.

ORIENTATION

The transition to the college is likely to be challenging for many students because the students face new people and new expectations. However, for making the transition easy and smooth, orientation program is managed by Sterling College for both new students and their parents.

The orientation enables the social involvement with others and provides knowledge about the college.

Following is the grading criterion which is adopted by the college in order to mark/ judge the academic outcomes of the students at Sterling College.

ACADEMIC ADVISING

The academic advising is provided to all full-time students of Sterling College. Each full-time student is assigned with a faculty member. The academic advisor provides assistance with academic schedules and monitors the academic progress of the students.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT CENTER

The academic support center is located in Mabee Library. The center provides assistance to the students in order to enhance their learning experience at Sterling College. To support the academic programs, tutoring services and other services are provided to the students.
The academic support center also oversees the academic progress of the students and mandatory study hall.

CAREER COUNSELING

The career counseling services are provided to the students in order to assist them in identifying their abilities, interests, values and motivations while opting for careers and majors.

INTERVIEW PREPARATION
The Sterling College provides services for preparing the students for successful job interviews. Mock interviews are also conducted in order to develop the interview skills of the students.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS
These workshops are meant for addressing the following: graduate school preparation, interview preparation, cover letters and resumes and job searching.

RESUME & COVER LETTER ASSISTANCE
It is important that the cover letters and the resumes of the applicants reflect their skills because cover letters and resumes become a source of putting an impression on the employer.
