An Insight into the History of the University:
In 1970, The Walden University was founded by Bernie and Rita Turner.

In 1972, the Walden University conferred 24 Ed.D.s and 46 Ph.D.’s at Naples, Fla.

In 1979, Minnesota Higher Education Coordinating Board approved the request of Walden University for the provision of license. This license became a source of permission to confer Ph.D.’s and Ed.D.s in Minnesota.

In 1984, the curriculum was changed in the perspective of aligning the profession with social change.

In 1990 the institution got accreditation from   North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCACS).

In 2001, Walden launched new programs in Public policy and administration for conferring MBA, MPA and Ph.D. degrees.

In 2005, Walden University celebrated the completion of 35 years.

In 2008, in the honor of former U.S. Secretary of Education Walden University named the College of Education as ‘The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership’.

In 2010, the University celebrated 40 years of working.

In 2011, at 46th annual commencement ceremony, the president Bill Clinton addressed the graduates.

In 2012, Cynthia G. Baum (Ph.D.) was regarded as the ninth president of Walden University.
